Texas Academy of Science Call for Nominations for Distinguished Texas Scientist (nominations currently closed)

Each year the Board of Directors of the Texas Academy of Science honors one of our colleagues as the Distinguished Texas Scientist. This honor reflects distinguished contributions to science through research and publication that has garnered recognition at the national and international level. Candidates must have spent a significant portion of their professional careers in Texas.

 To nominate a deserving colleague, please submit:

1.  A nominating letter from any scientist, summarizing the candidate’s achievements and their impact on science and Texas;
2. Two supporting letters from experts in the discipline of the nominee;
3. An updated curriculum vita of the nominee,

Texas Academy of Science Call for Nominations for Fellows of the Academy (nominations currently closed)

Each year the Board of Directors of the Texas Academy of Science honors members who have served the Academy and their discipline with distinction, by becoming a Fellow of the Academy. Nominees must have been a TAS member for at least 2 years and must have made substantial contributions in the areas of teaching, research or service, in any scientific field. Nominations must be made by 2 current Academy Fellows.

Current Fellows, please consider honoring a deserving Academy member by nominating them as an Academy Fellow. To nominate a colleague, please submit:

2. The name and contact information of another Academy Fellow that seconds your nomination

Texas Academy of Science Call for Nominations to the Board of Directors

The Texas Academy of Science is looking to fill multiple positions on the Board of Directors, starting in 2024. If you are interested, please contact [email protected] asap.  The positions include:

• Vice President
• Corresponding Secretary
• AAAS Representative
• Non-Academic Director
• Historian

Candidates must have an interest to serve the academy with distinction. Nominations can be made by any member of the Academy and self-nominations are welcome. If you are looking for a way to expand your role with the Academy, contribute to science in the state of Texas, or simply build your curriculum vitae, this is an excellent opportunity with modest demands on your time.
